Oval Face

Description:
A well-balanced face. Considered as the ideal type for frames.

Enhancement:
If the face is full, it has to be lengthened. If it is thin, it should be broadened. Notice influence from other aspects of face as well.

Frame Choices:
Any style frame looks good on this face shape. Glamorous cat eyes look especially good on oval faces.

Oblong or Rectangle Face

Description:
A long, narrow face with a square chin.

Enhancement:
To shorten the face and add width, giving a rounder and fuller feel to the face.

Frame Choices:
Round or oval designs that are not too small will shorten and soften this face shape. Decorative or contrasting temples will add width to the face.

Square Face

Description:
A wide forehead, cheek and chin area where the jaw is relatively angular in appearance.

Enhancement:
To shorten the face and add width, giving a rounder and fuller feel to the face.

Frame Choices:
Vintage round and rimless designs are good choices to balance out this face shape. Frames that have more width than depth and narrow ovals also work well.

Triangle Inverted or Heart Face

Description:
The forehead is the widest part of the face, then gradually narrowing to a slightly pointed chin.

Enhancement:
To make the forehead appear more narrow, and to add width to the chin and cheek area.

Frame Choices:
Rimless designs balance out this face shape.

Diamond Face

Description:
A small forehead and wide temple area that gradually decreases to a small chin area.

Enhancement:
The challenge lies in extending the forehead and chin area by minimizing the temple area.

Frame Choices:
Unobtrusive frames work best (metal or rimless). Light to medium weight frame. Lighter colour and rounded in shape. The styles that look best on this face shape are shallow ovals, geometric and rectangles.
